“Even on paper, this is the guy you want on your team,” said one judge. “He’s a leader.” After interning at Burson- Marsteller in 2010, Shane Arman was hired full time and promoted twice – the first promotion took place within four months. As a core member of the agency’s sports marketing specialty, he has helped drive outstanding results for clients such as Discover and MetLife. For Discover, he led media relations around its “Fan Loyalty Poll,” which includes a survey of college football fans and weekly infographics. Arman developed the idea and proposed it to Discover. Impressions had topped 200 million at the campaign’s midway point. For MetLife, Arman helped garner nearly 200 story placements (362 million impressions) in one week through his work coordinating interviews at the Super Bowl’s for the company’s CMO, NFL alumnus Amani Toomer, and New York Jets star Dustin Keller. “Very impressive accomplishments for such a young PR practitioner,” noted one judge. A first generation college student, Arman put himself through the University of Wisconsin– Oshkosh working three jobs. He graduated cum laude and won numerous awards, including a first place national Zenith Award for excellence in PR. He also led a large eventplanning organization and served as VP of the PRSSA. An active university alumni member, Arman has hosted a group of PR students at Burson-Marsteller’s Chicago office, helped with the journalism program’s mock interviews of students, and has frequently reviewed student blogs for an online media class.
